I asked members of The Table at St. Agnes Academy
to
interview me.
Here’s what they came up with:

Kindness
When did you realize writing was something you wanted to pursue as a career?
Always a dream, but it wasn’t until 2001 that I started working toward it.

My two favorite things.

Blond with pink highlights.

I think the swallow is grounded.
If you could meet any author, dead or alive, who would it be?
F Scott Fitzgerald at Gertrude Stein’s house in 1920s Paris.
What is your favorite holiday?
Easter
What came first: chicken or the egg?
The egg: Chicken for breakfast is just wrong.
What shoe size are you?
The same as my daughter: Lucky me! I borrow.
How awesome are your daughter’s friends (The Table)?
Beyond awesome, which is why I asked them to do this interview.
What if it were two swallows, carrying the coconut between 'em?
How romantic!

What color are they?
What is the meaning of life?
It’s all in the journey.
To be? or not to be?
To be, definitely.
Is music the food of life?
Part of the feast.
Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
Now I miss the swallows.
Hmm . . . I’d say the me God wants me to be.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a writer?
Write, read, write, write, read, write, write, write . . .
How do you get ideas for your stories?
From watching people, living life, thinking, and dreaming.
What's your life philosophy?
Love.
If you could have lunch with any one of your characters, who would it be and why?
From a middle grade novel I wrote, Mona Molly, that is hiding in a drawer: Leonardo da Vinci.
What process do you go through to write once you get an idea for a book?
I think a lot about the story, characters, theme, and setting. Then I write. Think more. Write. When the first draft is done, I revise & revise & revise & revise.
Did you ever consider a career besides writing? If so, what?
I was an aerospace engineer for years. I also taught writing as an adjunct. If I couldn’t be a writer, I’d still want to be around books: librarian, editor, bookstore owner.
Is your daughter the coolest person ever? (correct response is yes)
Hmm . . . I wonder who asked me this question. I think it just might be the coolest person ever.
Perhaps if they were African Swallows…
Yay! They’re back!
Thanks, Table! That was fun.
